The physicians of Newborn Specialists of Tulsa are an independent physician group contracted with the Hospital to manage and oversee the care provided to your child in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or other areas of the hospital.
Once services are provided for your child within the Hospital, medical claims for physician services will be submitted to your insurance company (if insurance is available) by Newborn Specialists of Tulsa. These physician charges are separate from the hospital charges, and you will receive a separate statement for them.
In some cases, Newborn Specialists of Tulsa are not contracted with an insurance company and are considered “out-of-network” or “non-participating” with the patient’s health plan. It is a pleasure for our physicians and staff to provide the care your child needs. Your health plan coverage will have no impact on the care provided by the Newborn Specialists of Tulsa Physicians. It is very unlikely that the physicians providing care will know which insurance you or your baby carries. Our physicians will only address medical issues and will forward all payment issues to the business office staff.
A list of plans with which Newborn Specialists of Tulsa physicians are contracted is listed below. If your health plan is not listed, it is important that you contact your insurance carrier to obtain an authorization/certification for the physician charges associated with your child’s care. Failure to make such contact may put you at risk for the entire financial burden.
If your health plan is not contracted with Newborn Specialists of Tulsa, the health plan may send the claim payments directly to you. Please be advised that such payments are intended for the physicians who rendered the care. If you receive such payments, forward payment and a copy of the corresponding paperwork, such as the Explanation of Benefits (EOB), to the Newborn Specialists of Tulsa Business Office within 7 days of receipt.
You may be responsible for certain out-of-pocket expenses that are part of your insurance coverage. Examples of these payments include: co-payments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Newborn Specialists of Tulsa is required by the health plan to collect these fees. Please refer to your insurance coverage document, explanation of benefits, or contact your insurance provider if you have questions about your financial responsibilities.
